Michael Steck Papers

Abstract The Steck Papers contain correspondence and business records relating to Steck's tenure as Indian Agent and Superintendent of Indian Affairs for New Mexico. Also contains records of his involvement with the New Mexico Mining Company and with railroad operations in Pennsylvania.

Jesse L. Nusbaum Photograph Collection

Scope and Content Materials included original 5 x 7 glass plate negatives, 5 x 7 vintage prints, and nitrate film negatives of various sizes. Many of the vintage 5 x 7 contact prints have notes on the back written in pencil by Jesse Nusbaum and notes in ball point pen by his wife, Rosemary Nusbaum. Scope and Content This box contains longhand transcriptions of the original Spanish minutes of the Mexican legislative sessions in Santa Fe for a large part of the Mexican period of New Mexico. One session recorded in the folders was held on August 8, 1846 [Folder 19], and records the body's consternation at the invasion of United States forces numbering 5,000 marching upon the capitol city.
