Notes from transcription. Lee, Ramona, Lee’s house, Laguna. Fumbling with the tape recorder. Lee talking about Dr. Ward Alan Minge. Both knew George Pearl, went by Clay. Lee talks about the house museum in Corrales and Minge’s book on Acoma, use of Art Bibo material, some mistakes in the book, about Bibo and Marmons leasing the Pueblo of Acoma. Lee did photos for Pearl for El Palacio article Canyon of the Walls, 1958. Lee and Ramona talking about buying used books. Pearl collection at UNM and his books. Lee talks about his house in Palm Springs, designed by Arthur Elrod. Lee was tribal treasurer, knew Laguna tribal buildings were bad so out of the blue happen to stop in the Pearl, SMPC firm at Nob Hill, did not know George Pearl yet. Lee asked him about it and they designed the tribal building at Acoma, the ACL Hospital. That is how Lee and Pearl became friends. Three years of tribal opposition but which eventually was approved. Cut out the plans for swimming pool, bowling alley. Comment on Abraham Lincoln Canes, Michael Steck and Laguna, Acoma (collection at CSWR). Comments on Lee’s book, hard to get, where is he most popular, in Czech Republic, since his visited there, his activities. Comments on Lee’s visit to the London exhibit at Barbican. More comments on the UC Davis exhibit, the Indigenous photographers show and their book with selected photos from each. Comments on the Smithsonian exhibit, that they only wanted American photos, not any from foreign countries. Ramona talking about the traveling exhibit in Los Angeles, she found error in credit about desk from Appomattox and General Custer, not stolen, but gift from Sheridan
