MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DAD, MASTIC, MAY 14-16, 1998

 File — Box: 182

Scope and Contents

This large photo album contains many of the color pictures I took of my trip east with family (Luke and Tania) to my father's memorial service at the William Floyd Estate where Pop (David Gelston Nichols) was born (Sept. 17, 1916) and where we buried his ashes 81 years later. The album has 33 pages with 6 photos to each page. Of me, Tania, and Luke flying east; visiting Karen Krause and my publishers (Marian Wood at Holt, Bill Rusin at Norton) in New York; visiting my old West Broadway neighborhood, and Ruby's and my East 7th Street neighborhood between 2nd and 3rd Avenues; then going up to my brother Dave's Manhattan office at Morgan, Lewis, and Bockius, then to Dave's house in Mt. Kisco; then off to the William Floyd Estate to bury Pop's ashes on May 16, with lots of family members and photographs of us all together at the cemetery, and at the William Floyd house, and then walking around the Floyd estate, and, finally, visiting my mother Monique's grave in the family cemetery. And many other family moments. There are almost 200 color photos in the album and I tried to scribble info on the back of each one. (My journal of these three days can be found with my diary folders in Box 137, folder 23.)
