 File — Box: 132, Folder: 16

Scope and Contents

This notebook has: 1.) Several pages of phone messages. 2.) 6 pages of dialogue for my script on Che Guevara written for producers Peter Davis and Bill Panzer. 3.) A 5-page autobiography written for Daryl Black, a photographer, who published a photo/essay book of her photographs of New Mexicans with Sunstone Press in 2002. Her book Is called: A Place Like No Other. 4.) A July 7, 1999 scribbled forward to the Holt reprint of my novel The Magic Journey. 5.) A 5-page author's note written July 17, 1999 for a reprint of my non-fiction photo-essay, The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn. 6.) A 14-page first draft of an essay for a collection put out by Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope All-Story. The essay, about my Hollywood career, is called "To Make a Long Story Short." The Zoetrope collection was published in 2000. 7.) A 4-page essay I wrote on August 18, 1999, about climbing Wheeler Peak near Taos. "Into Pretty Thin Air" was published in the Taos Horse Fly on November 15, 1999. 8.) A 3-page sarcastic riff about my fatigue with environmental do-gooders slated for my essay "An American Child Supreme." 9.) A 1-page riff called "Economics 101" meant to be the start of a novel about killing the buffalo, a book I've always wanted to write, using eradication of the buffalo as a metaphor for capitalism gone amok.
