During ceremony we buried a Barby and Ken doll wrapped in barbwire; read our vows to each other; recited "The Equilibrists," a poem by John Crowe Ransom. I played "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" on the guitar. And the "unified church" couple made us stand in a "column of light" while they blessed us before they'd sign the marriage certificate. Everybody said a few words. Pop recited his poem about change. Luke said, "For the sake of everybody, I hope this one works." Or maybe he said, "lasts." Andrés Martínez was very serious and blessed us. My truck got stuck in mud on the approach to my Carson land, a bit of an omen. (19 slides)
