SEPTEMBER 1992

 File — Box: 136, Folder: 52
Scope and Contents 54 typed pages mostly about many trips grouse hunting. September 3rd hunt was basis for my essay "The Day Lee Brodsky Died." Many visitors, also. Trout fishing down Hole-in-the-Rock bajada and Rope Trail on the Rio Grande. Wood runs. Talk with El Salvador refugee. Porcupines. Strange dreams. Climbed Tres Orejas mountain. This was one of those years when I was determined to spend as much of September as I could hunting in the mountains and really cleared my schedule all year in order to do so.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN BOOK FAIR, DENVER, OCTOBER 1993

 File — Box: 136, Folder: 56
Scope and Contents This is a modest (and mindless) 12-page collection of my schedule, thank-you letter, notes, and requests at a venue where I was on a couple of panels (lists included), gave a reading (my first from Conjugal Bliss, to be published in 1994), and signed books. I actually flew to Denver from Albuquerque instead of driving up! This folder includes two beautiful JOHN NICHOLS booth or table signs or whatever.

Written in April 1994, "Rio Grande" (6 pages) was published in my collected essays, Dancing on the Stones (2000), and in the Winter 2003 Wild on the Fly Magazine as "Heart Matters." It's about my failing heart, marriage, perhaps end of fishing the Rio Grande. "Longest Night"(8 pages) was published in Dancing on the Stones.
