Alfred Vincent Kidder Papers

Abstract Alfred Vincent (A.V.) Kidder (1885-1963) was a well-known archaeologist working in the American Southwest. Kidder was active in the establishment of the Laboratory of Anthropology, Inc. and served as chairman of the board until 1935. The collection contains correspondence of A.V. Kidder during 1926-1935, covering a range of his activities and archaeological interests in the Southwest.

Kenneth Chapman Photographs

Scope and Content This small collection comes from the personal collection of Kenneth Chapman and includes photographs he had taken as well as those he collected for research purposes. Many of the photos were grouped into envelopes and labeled probably by Kenneth Chapman, which have been retained as a group.

Kenneth Chapman Pueblo Designs Collection

Abstract 37 paintings of pueblo pottery designs. Also, three prints of Native American designs used on buildings: Administration Building, Door to Museum, and a library (not specified). These paintings, by Mercedes Gugisberg, are copies of plates made by Kenneth Chapman. Design motifs include geometric images, animal forms (primarily birds), flower images, and stylized rain clouds.

Kenneth M. Chapman Collection

Scope and Content The collection consists of genealogical family information, correspondence, legal and real estate documents, and (typed and handwritten) autobiographical notes. Papers pertain to Kenneth Chapman's work with the Museum of New Mexico, Edgar L. Hewett and others, the Indian Arts Fund, general archaeology and the preservation of Pueblo pottery.

New Mexico Oral History Collection

Scope and Content The collection consists of taped interviews with prominent people from Santa Fe and New Mexico. All but one tape include transcripts. According to the interviewees, it appears that the oral histories were gathered as part of the Upper Canyon Road Project.Interviewers and project are not identified.

Parker Wilson Files

Abstract Parker Wilson (1905-1984) was the son of Francis C. Wilson (attorney for Martha and Elizabeth White). Parker Wilson was a board member of the School of American Research (SAR) and his papers include correspondence regarding the School from 1952-1971. Also included is a report on the Navajo Dam project by the National Park Service. There is also a folder of materials pertaining to the Laboratory of Anthropology, Inc., 1961-1963, especially financial accounts.
Dates: 1952-1984; Majority of material found in 1952-1971
