Edward J. Furlong Papers

Scope and Content The collection consists of Mr. Furlong's research notes for his dissertation. These fall into three categories: articles, index cards, various documents. There are approximately 126 articles, largely xeroxed from both English and Portuguese sources. Included are also copies of essays written by students. Abstract The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, meeting minutes, booklets and newsletters relating to Fort Wingate and the community of Fort Wingate. Much of the material relates to Paul and Patti Merrill. Paul Merrill ran the Fort Wingate Trading Post and Patti Merrill served as Postmaster for Fort Wingate.
