Abstract: 10/15/2013, 10/16/2013, 10/16/2013 (Deloria only). In interview 1, tape 1, Deloria and Hart both discuss their personal backgrounds and how they ended up in the southwest. They discuss assumptions held against Native students regarding culture shock and educational performance. They begin talking about the UNM Law School and the movement to start recruiting Native people into the law program. In tape 2 of interview 1, they discuss the key players in developing the Indian Law Program and people at the Law School. They discuss issues regarding funding and scholarships to attract students to the program.
