GREEN MEAD NOTEBOOK, 1984-1986

Scope and Contents

This notebook includes: 1.) My 20 pages of handwritten notes from the August 25, 1984 fifteenth anniversary celebration of the Tierra Amarilla Clinica when Craig Vincent, of Taos, was honored for his work for the Clinica with the Craig Vincent Community Hall. These notes include interviews with Carol Horowitz, Clinica director; Moises Morales; María Varela; Beroniz Archuleta (Sp?); Nancy Kleinbord; Ed Bernstein; Valentina Valdez. 2.) 2 pages of notes from talks with James Thomas, editor of my non-fiction book On The Mesa. 3.) 35 pages of notes taken November 1985 about Craig Vincent for a story I planned to write. (He died in July 1985.) These notes include interviews with Enriqueta Vasquez; Craig's brother Bill Vincent; Artie Sharfin; Jenny Vincent; Frank Waters; Nancy Kleinbord. (See my Craig Vincent files in GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE FILES and my eulogy for Craig in EULOGY FILES.) 4.) 7 pages of notes on my Pancho Villa mini-series script, Born to Attack, from conversations with the producers Philip and Mary Ann Hobel and CBS executives in New York, November 3, 1986. (See PANCHO VILLA, "BORN TO ATTACK" SCRIPTS in BOXES 46 AND 47, and the VILLA CORRESPONDENCE in BOX 108, FOLDER 3.) 5.) 4-page publicity riff for my book A Fragile Beauty (published in 1987). 6.) My 2-page blurb of a book by a poet friend, Phyllis Thompson.

Access Restrictions

The collection is open for research, however, researchers must sign consent form prior to gaining access to materials. Calavera drawings, proofs, and etchings as well as "little diaries" (Boxes 14, 125, 126, 129, 142) are housed in high security and may require up to 24 hours for retrieval. Enlarged photocopies and typed transcriptions of "little diaries" in Box 142 are located in Box 184.
