RED ALADDIN NOTE BOOK, CABO RIO NOTES, 1983

 File — Box: 131, Folder: 46

Scope and Contents

115 handwritten pages. This Red Aladdin Note Book contains my handwritten notes made during a July 9-20, 1983 fact-finding trip to Miami and Key West with the English/Czech director, Karel Reisz, while working on his film, Cabo Rio, which dealt with Haitian boat people shipwrecked on a Bahamian key. In Miami we spoke to Haitian boat people, Haitian refugees in Krome concentration camp, and Coast Guardsmen who drove us in boats around Miami and Key Biscayne. In Key West we helicoptered out to the Dry Tortugas and Ft. Jefferson, "scouting locations." Movie never got made. (See CABO RIO SCRIPTS IN BOX 46, and my RELATED CORRESPONDENCE IN BOX 108, FOLDER 2.) My Florida notes here cover 115 pages.
