AMERICAN BLOOD, LONG VERSION, 1980s

 File — Box: 131, Folder: 45

Scope and Contents

25 typed pages (and 1 handwritten page of "Books to read for capitalism novel"). For years I planned to write a large novel about the rise of industrial capitalism in the U. S. from around 1870 to 1970. It would highlight the violence underlying our culture. Beginning with a Native American massacre and the killing of the buffalo, and ending with My Lai and Vietnam. I never wrote the book, too daunting. This folder contains 25 typed pages of notes about the history I wished to cover, and ideas for the book, its characters, etc. (See RELATED MATERIAL in BOX 27, FOLDER 1.)
