Scope and Contents

From the File: In 1906 a joint statehood proposal was presented to the people of Arizona and New Mexico under which movement the Territories of New Mexico and Arizona would have obtained statehood jointly. New Mexicans voted for the proposal on November 6, while the people of Arizona, not wanting joint statehood, voted against the proposal. The jointure movement was thus defeated.
