The Jointure Movement of 1906, June 16
File
Scope and Contents
In 1906 a joint statehood proposal was presented to the people of Arizona and New Mexico under which movement the Territories of New Mexico and Arizona would have obtained statehood jointly. New Mexicans voted for the proposal on November 6, while the people of Arizona, not wanting joint statehood, voted against the proposal. The jointure movement was thus defeated.
