Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series: High-altitude aerial imagery in the form of vertical photographs, oblique photographs, photomosaics, Landsat images, multispectral images, negatives, and mylar transparencies may be found in this subseries. Certain file folders also include supporting documentation for the photography. A majority of the images represents National Park Service sites and their surrounding areas, particularly those located in the southwest region of the United States. The photography served a variety of purposes, including mapping, cultural resource tracking, park planning, etc. Some photographs are annotated or come with overlays highlighting specific natural features or potential sites of interest. Additional interpretive materials are located in Series III: Project Files.

50 color aerial photographs. 8 photomosaics created by the USGS Topographic Division from photography completed 12/30/1972 and 1/25/1973 (six are photo indexes for Project GS-SWGY and two are photo indexes for Project GS-VDDP); 8 color aerial photographs, unlabeled; 32 B/W and one color aerial photograph dating from 8/01/1972 through 10/19/1977; 2 oversize photomosaics of New Mexico's Otero Conservation District, compiled from photographs taken in 1941 by Holmberg Aerial Survey Co.; 1 B/W aerial photograph labeled SE 1/4--NM--395; 3 New Mexico quadrangle maps of Lake Lucero NE, Tres Hermanos NW, and Herd Springs SW. 5 folders.
