Scope and Content From the Collection: The collection consists of photographs relating to Pershing's Punitive Expedition into Mexico in 1916. Most images are snapshots of army camp life. Some printed on postcard paper may have been commercially published and distributed. Camplife is discussed in Hedlund's articles for the Post, located in a scrapbook in the Manuscripts collections of the Center for Southwest Research. Camp pictures include: Hedlund at his typewriter in a tent and with a captive wolf, cavalry, work details, soldiers...
