This collection of letters describes problems at the Lillie Ranch in Kelly (Socorro County), N.M. in the late 1800s. Two letters are written to Sara J. Boggs by Lt. S. W. Fountain (8th U.S. Cavalry) near Alma, NM, detailing an incident with the Indians in which her brother, John Lillie, was killed and his house burned. Fountain also mentions an incident in which Geronimo was supposed to surrender to General Crook, but did not. The bulk of the letters (7) are written by Thomas P....
