This small collection contains an unrevised proof copy of his California-based novel, Sweet Thursday, published by Viking Press. In addition, there are two letters of correspondence between Steinbeck and Roland Dickey, editor of University of New Mexico Press, concerning the publication of a compilation of criticism of Steinbeck's work.
