The Smith Family Photography Collection is arranged into series by donating family member and photographer.
Series 1 contains 36 photographs by Miguel Gandert, representing the years 1977-1998; this material has been donated by Andy Smith and Claire Lozier.

Biography
Andy (Andrew) Smith is a native New Mexican. He trained as a lawyer at UNM and opened his first photography gallery in Old Town, Albuquerque. He has had Santa Fe gallery connections since 1978, moving all of his activity to Santa Fe in 1995. In 2018 he closed the Santa Fe gallery and has moved his business to Tucson, AZ. With his wife Claire Lozier and daughter Arielle J. Smith, the Andrew Smith family has given CSWR a selection of work by photographers with ties to New Mexico and UNM.
Patrick Nagatani (1945-2017) was an American photographer born in Chicago, IL. He received his B.A. from California State Los Angeles (1968) and his MFA from UCLA (1980). He taught art at Loyola Marymount University and the University of New Mexico. Patrick was the subject of multiple solo shows including those at the Japanese American National Museum, University of Michigan Museum of Art, and The Vermont Center for Photography.
Miguel Gandert (1956-) is an Indo-Hispano American photographer, photojournalist, and educator. Miguel was born in Espanola, NM in 1956 and obtained his MFA in photography from the University of New Mexico in 1983. Miguel's work His work has appeared in many national exhibitions including those at the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian, the 1993 Whitnet Biennial , and the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico. Gandert lives in Albuquerque, NM.
