Background Information

Believed to be a gift from the late UNM Professor, Robert Duncan Sr., to the late Joaquin Ortega, UNM Spanish professor, from 1941-1953 and first Director of the School of Inter-American Affairs. He was also the editor of the "New Mexico Quarterly." Joaquin Ortega was born in the city of Ronda and returned there where he died in 1955. Apparently the Duncan family had the legajo book returned to them. It was separated from the Robert M. Duncan collection, Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections.
