Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The Mabel Dodge Luhan House and the cultural milieu encompassing it (1920s-1990’s) are the prime focuses of the collection. Mabel Dodge Luhan, Tony Luhan, family, and friends who visited them are depicted in the collection. Dennis Hopper, who bought the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in 1970, and the “hippie” years are also documented via the photographs. Many of the photos were used to illustrate Rudnick’s publication, Utopian Vistas: The Mabel Dodge Luhan House and the American Counterculture.
The collection contains photographs by Lisa Law, Bob Campagna, Ron Cooper, Ernest Knee, Douglas Magnus, and “Finley.” Most photographs are reproductions.
