Scope and Contents

  1. Folder 1A: New Mexico Pueblos, 1935-1936. Maps vary, among features shown are land and water use, acequias, swamps, soils, woodlands, grasslands, erosion, bridges, railroads, buildings, etc. Maps of Isleta Pueblo, Laguna Pueblo, San Felipe Pueblo, San Juan Pueblo, Santa Ana Pueblo (El Ranchito Grant), Taos Pueblo Grant and Tesuque Pueblo Grant.
  2. Folder 1B: Rio Grande, River Basin, Watershed and San Marcial, Rio Puerco. Elephant Butte Project, reservoir conditions 1919. San Marcial, New Mexico, Rio Grande, maps, charts, silt 1896-1918, river, stream bed and surface water, arroyos, water gage stations, graph data 1937, flood 1937 data, notes on railroad line, Bosque del Apache, local sites, etc. Rio Grande, river data, main drainage basin, and sub watershed areas, from Colorado to El Paso, also shows Civil Conservation Camps (CCC) and Soil Conservation Camps (SCS) areas in 1938; also Rio Grande Irrigation Project, 1922 and 1923, from San Marcial to area south of El Paso, maps show water projects planned in New Mexico, in Fabens, Texas, and in Juarez, San Elizario, Socorro and Cuadrilla, in Mexico. Rio Puerco, chart, water samples, silt 1938-1939.
  3. Folder 2A: Lincoln County and Union County. Lincoln area rainfall, watershed, checkerboard mixed land ownership, etc. Union County, land types, use, map has limited data.
  4. Folder 2B: Dona Ana County, Hidalgo County and Gila area, 1935-1937. Dona Ana County, Hatch, Placitas, Santa Teresa Arroyo and Spring Arroyo, showing dike and channel, flood protection. Gila National Forest, Trujillo Arroyo watershed, erosion, flooding, livestock operations, land ownership. Hidalgo County, Animas Valley, Gila River, gravels, gullies, land use, erosion, grassland, woodlands, etc.
  5. Folder 2C: Taos area and San Luis Valley, Colorado region. Taos area (Tenorio Tract, Lucero Tract, Seco Tract, etc.), land and water use, acequias, erosion, etc. San Luis Valley, water survey chart, 1890-1918, water gage data, watershed, storage, reservoirs, creeks, mountain runoff, Rio Grande, dams, Giroux Reservoir, Sanchez Reservoir, etc.
