The El Hispano News Pictorial Collection is comprised of prints, halftone images, negatives, cartoons, postcards, and other pictorial works dating from 1966-2003 of local and national politicians as well as New Mexican cultural and civic events.
Series 1: Politicians (1965-2002)
Series 1 consists of photographs, half-tone images, and cartoons of local and national New Mexican politicians. This series also contains photographs and half-tone images of U.S. Presidents. New Mexican politicians include: Manuel Lujan, Jr., Pete Domenici, Joseph Montoya, Fabian Chavez, Harrison T. Schmitt, Steven Schiff, Harry Kinney, Jerry Apodaca, Bruce King, David F. Cargo, Toney Anaya, Bill Richardson, Heather Wilson, Roberto Mondragon.
Series 2: Identified People (1938, 1966-2003)
Series 2 contains photographs and half-tone images of notable and nationally recognized figures in New Mexican history, art, and culture. Among others, Rudolfo Anaya, Reies López Tijerina, Max Roybal, Val de la O, and Dr. Sabine Ulibarrí are included here. The majority of this series consists of photographs and half-tone images of locally-known persons.
Series 3: Performers and Celebrities (1967-2003)
Series 3 consists of photographs and half-tone images of unidentified persons. Portraits of men and women as well as group shots are included.
Series 4: Unidentified People (1964-1989)
Series 4 consists of photographs and half-tone images of local, national, and international performers and celebrities. Included are promotional photographs for films, television shows, and other productions. Also included are images of both identified and unidentified musicians and stage actors.
Series 5: Miscellaneous (1967-1999)
Series 5 consists of miscellaneous pictorial works. These include personal photos and postcards from and/or related to Angel Collado (publisher), images related to the development and/or history of El Hispano News (i.e., photographs of El Hispano News building and equipment, newspapers stacks and layouts, and people delivering the newspaper), images of Albuquerque city views and buildings, church officials and religious artifacts, military personnel and equipment, cultural and civic events, and aeronautic-related photographs.
