Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection documents the life and, more specifically, the commercial activities of Chief Joseph Secakuku, a member of the Hopi Nation. "Chief Joseph" or "Chief Joe," as Secakuku was commonly known, was a forerunner in the marketing of Native American arts and culture to tourists in the Southwest. Prints are 8 x 10 in., or smaller.

Photographers represented in this collection are Scotts Studio (Oxnard, California), Freda Parrish (Keystone Photo Service, Los Angeles, California), and R. G. & D. Photo.
