Scope and Content

From the Collection: This collection of field recordings was made in Quito, Esmeraldas and San Lorenzo, Ecuador in the spring of 1977 and spring of 1980 by Tomas White. Also included are several tambora and cununo drum rhythms from Colombia. The collection consists of 5 reels which have been reformatted to cassettes. In addition to the music, his commentary describes the type of marimbas used for the performances and the note patterns and arrangements in the songs.
