 File — Box: 1, CD: 7-8

Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection consists of oral history interviews with 12 New Mexico architects. The project was authored by Cecilia Portal in collaboration with the NM Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Albuquerque Chapter of AIA.

Interviewees include Robert Campbell, John Conron, Max and Anne Flatow, Marjorie (Peggy) Hooker, Van Dorn Hooker, Robert Mallory, George Clayton Pearl, Antoine Predock, Donna Quasthoff, Don Schlegel, and Don Stevens. All interviews were conducted by Cecilia Portal. Discussion generally begins with family history, and continues on to the evolution of the individuals' interest in architecture, their education, career, and projects that stand out in their minds as particularly interesting and/or significant. The interviews provide insight into the history of architecture as an academic discipline, as a career, and as a business, as well as shedding light on significant architectural projects in New Mexico.

Interview audio is in digital format. Transcripts of interviews with Robert Campbell, Van Dorn Hooker, George Pearl, Phillippe Register, and Don Stevens are available on CD 1. Other interviews have not been transcribed. A few photographs related to Peggy Hooker and George Pearl are also on CD 1. Photo negatives associated with Robert Campbell are in folder 1.
