NIRVANA BLUES BOOK TOUR, September 1981

 File — Box: 136, Folder: 13

Scope and Contents

My first book tour ever was for this novel, third in the New Mexico Trilogy. From September 6 to September 27, 1981. Arranged for the publisher Holt, Rinehart, and Winston by publicist Selma Shapiro and her assistant Meryl Zegarek. This folder includes 38 pages of schedules for travel to Houston, Austin, Dallas, L.A., San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, and Chicago (where I even plugged The Nirvana Blues on Studs Terkel's radio show). Also an article by Brian Woolley of Dallas, and several letters and to-do lists. Included are 20 telephone messages slips while I was on the road, which feature a handful from Ann Migden of the Writers Guild during the arbitration of credits for the film Missing. I was arbitrated out of a credit on the film, whose screenplay won an Academy Award. This folder also includes the usual detritus of travel, lots of business cards, airplane tickets, and a few news articles I clipped along the way.
