TAOS, NOVEMBER 1980-FEBRUARY 1981

 File — Box: 136, Folder: 11

Scope and Contents

38 typed pages, true pagination at top center of page, an edited continuation of my journal just above, beginning on Nov. 4, 1980 (Reagan's election) and ending Feb. 17, 1981 (with a p.s. page, Nov. 18, 1981). Lots of fishing the Rio Grande, schmoozing friends, and wandering the western mesa. Some pages are notes especially for The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn. My diary for December 22, 1980 describes BIG MOMENT IN MY LIFE WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGED, MY TRIP TO L.A. TO TALK WITH COSTA-GAVRAS ABOUT REWRITING "MISSING." This led to a secondary Hollywood screenwriting career. Also stories about Tina my baby bulldog. Trip with my kids to frozen Bernardin Lake. Back to L.A. January 25-February 1, 1981 to rewrite "Missing." Much of this journal material was used in The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn.
