TAOS TROUT FISHING, SEPTEMBER 1-DECEMBER 22, 1979

 File — Box: 136, Folder: 8

Scope and Contents

54 typed pages (actually, last 2 pages are handwritten). Paginated in pencil on top right of page. At start of journal, on Sept. 1, 1979, Charley Reynolds took me down a bajada to the Rio Grande and showed me how to fish it. One of the great gifts anyone ever gave me. For years afterwards Charley and I fished that river together. He taught me all the bajadas. This journal covers September 1 to December 22, 1979. My friend Mike Kimmel came out from Philadelphia, and he, Charley, and I had great adventures in the gorge that autumn. Much of this material was used in The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn. (See related Autumn material in my NOVEL NOTES FILES, "NOTES ON 'AUTUMN,' 1979-81.")
