WORLD CAFE, NEW YORK, 1963

 File — Box: 135, Folder: 46

Scope and Contents

I returned to NY from Spain in June 1963, and played my guitar in Greenwich Village folk cafes. One night (August 2, 1963) Bruce Clayman hired me to play in his World Cafe and he was busted for entertainment without a license. I testified for him in court. Later in 1963, briefly, the World Cafe became a great after-hours musician hangout where I was "chef" and played lots of music. This file contains: 1.) Yellow Stenographer Note Book with a diary kept August 7-September 13, 1963 of my life in Greenwich Village, at the World Cafe, and at William Floyd Estate with my dad and brothers: 7 pages. 2.) 2-page typed description of the World Cafe probably in July 1963. 3.) My 6-page handwritten testimony in pencil against N.Y. Licence Department on World Cafe owner Bruce Clayman's behalf for a hearing to be held August 27, 1963. 4.) 3 pages of Bruce Clayman's testimony, handwritten (and created) by me, to be given on August 27, 1963.
