Pedrucho, 1960

 File — Box: 135, Folder: 37

Scope and Contents

Bill and I took bullfighting lessons from an old matador, Pedrucho (Pedro Basauri, also an actor), in Barcelona. His school was in an Italian film The Moment of Truth--Il momento de verita--starring Linda Christian. This folder has a cartel of Pedrucho and 6 bulls he killed on May 25, 1930; also a July 24, 1960 letter in Spanish from Pedrucho to a Barcelona impresario asking him to admit Bill and me to a sorteo where bulls are chosen for matadors to fight. The letter is written on a card that displays a picture of Pedrucho killing a bull. (The sorteo he mentions is described in my EUROPE, SUMMER OF 1960 diary on pages 128-129, and it is also depicted in photographs number 62-64 in my SECOND LEATHERETTE ALBUM with photos of Spain 1960.) This folder also includes Internet Wikipedia bios of Pedruchol a synopsis of The Moment of Truth; and an envelope with Spanish stamps of 1960 honoring the corrida.
