"DYLAN", SUMMER OF 1961

 File — Box: 135, Folder: 16

Scope and Contents

I spent the summer of 1961 in New York at 4 Sutton Square in the penthouse of Ward and Froggy Cheney's house. I wrote a novel and took guitar lessons from the Reverend Gary Davis up in the Bronx. Ward and Froggy gave me $50 to attend Broadway Plays. This folder has a playbill for "Mary, Mary," starring Barbara Bel Geddes, and for "Dylan," starring Alec Guinness. "Dylan," about Dylan Thomas, had a huge effect on me. (See related material to Summer of 1961 in BOX 1, FOLDER 9.)
