Scope and Contents

Perry Knowlton was my New York literary agent from 1964 until he retired in the late 1990s. (See CURTIS BROWN and PERRY KNOWLTON in my BOOK/AGENT FILES in ARCHIVAL BOXES 103-104.) Perry died of Alzheimer's on July 6, 2007. His New York memorial was on November 6, 2007. This folder includes: 1.) My October 23, 2007 letter to Perry's son, Tim Knowlton. 2.) Many Xeroxed photos of Perry. 3.) My short and long versions of reflections on Perry to be read at his memorial. 4.) Perry's New York Times obituary. (Pages are numbered 1-25 at bottom of page.)

Access Restrictions

The collection is open for research, however, researchers must sign consent form prior to gaining access to materials. Calavera drawings, proofs, and etchings as well as "little diaries" (Boxes 14, 125, 126, 129, 142) are housed in high security and may require up to 24 hours for retrieval. Enlarged photocopies and typed transcriptions of "little diaries" in Box 142 are located in Box 184.
