Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection contains New Mexico State Register nominations and associated documentation (photographs, correspondence, clippings) for the Goodson School and D. D. Monroe Civic Building/Clayton Public Library in Union County, NM. Also included is the New Mexico State Land Office publication, Goodson Memorial School, Union County, New Mexico: An Archaeological Survey and Preliminary Architectural Documentation of the 1936 WPA School Building Located in the Dry Cimarron River Valley, by David C. Eck, 2003. The collection also includes genealogical research on the Sayre and Monroe families. This research was for a potential update to Monroe's publication, Small Worlds: : the Frontier Settlement and Farm Life Worlds of the American Ancestors of Kendyl and Barbara Sayre Monroe, and the Westward Settlement of the United States to Northeast New Mexico.
