Scope and Content

From the Collection: This collection consists of photographs taken on the occasion of Coronado Cuarto Centennial. Images include Commission officials, Erna Fergusson and James F. Zimmerman, prominent personalities such as Peter Hurd, celebration preparations and events. Intended to attract tourists to the State, the year-long festivities in 1940 took place in towns and cities throughout New Mexico. Some photos show recreational attractions and sports; others show monuments and landmarks. There are a number of photos of Coronado State Monument. Notable individual pictures portray the KGGM Radio Broadcasting Group, the Albuquerque Indian School students in traditional costume, and a group of Franciscan Brothers. Prints are 8 x 10 in. or smaller.
