Scope and Content

From the Collection: The E. A. Gertig collection contains newspaper clippings from the 1930s and 40s, as well as the Albuquerque Journal, December 8, 1941, describing the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Other World War II memorabilia such as blackout warning posters and rubber rationing announcements are included. Stock records, whiskey labels, business stationary, driver's licenses, and coupons are also furnished in the collection. Some of the materials pertain to Kenneth Gertig, Edmund Gertig's son.

Several newspaper articles concerning Chester T. French, an Albuquerque funeral director, philanthropist, and Sunday school teacher are housed in the collection. An invitation to a dinner in honor of Chester T. French and an exercise brochure produced by French are also included.
