Scope and Content
The E. A. Gertig collection contains newspaper clippings from the 1930s and 40s, as well as the Albuquerque Journal, December 8, 1941, describing the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Other World War II memorabilia such as blackout warning posters and rubber rationing announcements are included. Stock records, whiskey labels, business stationary, driver's licenses, and coupons are also furnished in the collection. Some of the materials pertain to Kenneth Gertig, Edmund Gertig's son.
Several newspaper articles concerning Chester T. French, an Albuquerque funeral director, philanthropist, and Sunday school teacher are housed in the collection. An invitation to a dinner in honor of Chester T. French and an exercise brochure produced by French are also included.

Biographical Information
Edmund A. Gertig was a builder and carpenter, and was responsible for constructing and remodeling several Albuquerque buildings and homes. Records of building permits issued to Gertig are located in Digest of Albuquerque Building Permits, Dec. 1912-Dec 1930 and Jan. 1931-Aug. 1930. Kenneth Gertig, his son, also lived in Albuquerque and worked as an auto repairman. He was a student of Chester T. French's Sunday School in 1918.

Abstract
This is a small collection containing newspaper clippings, World War II memorabilia and a few business records. Documents concerning Albuquerque funeral director, Chester T. French, are also housed in the collection.
Separated Material
Miscellaneous postcards and photographs of the Gertig family and places of business have been transferred to the Edmund Gertig Photograph Collection. Postcards have been integrated into the postcard collection.
