Scope and Contents

Born October 22, 1876. Came to New Mexico in 1887 from Dripping Springs, Hays Co., Texas with his father and family and settled on the Lower Penasaco. Worked for Hinkle and the CA Bar Cattle Company. The killing of John Tunstall and the Lincoln Co. War. Went up the trail to Las Vegas with a herd every year for 5 years in the ‘90’s. Range conditions. Billy the Kid and Billy Matthews both mentioned. Trip from Texas to N.M. described. Capt. Stanton killed by Indians. Freighted to El Paso for Hinkle.
