Scope and Contents
Lives in Fort Sumer, N.M. Born October 9, 1860 in Big Creek, Mississippi. Moved to Pottsville, Hamilton Co., Texas in 1875 - went by train from Coffeyville to Waco and covered wagon the last hundred miles. Built a 12x12 log house. His father was a school teacher and Baptist minister. Tells of his grandfather owning 30 or 40 slaves and what happened to them after the Civil War. Describes breaking the sod and farming in Texas.
