[Hand-retouched albumen on cut-down card] Francisco Rojo é Hijo [Francisco Rojo Mellado (1817-1890) and Francisco Rojo Gonimar (b. ca 1843)], Malaga, Spain: Bearded man in uniform, with sword and full front cross braid and buttons on tunic, standing between studio table and overstuffed chair, ca 1865-73. Ink inscription, “Te abrazo” (I embrace you) above small red design with scientific, photographic, art, and musical implements above imprint of “Spanish Photography” and street address of Calle de Salinas No. 4, which the only published history of photography in Malaga declares to have few extant examples, making this and the next four items of research importance for this studio that was a leader in several ways.
