Scope and Contents

Includes family history of Ananias Green. The binder was compiled by Roberta Haldane a descendent of Ananias Green a pioneer in the Territory of New Mexico. The binders contain news clippings of events pertaining to the Green family and their descendants, written family histories, copies of wills, Family group charts, photocopies of birth, marriage, and death pages recorded from the family bible elsewhere in the collection. Also included are obituary and death notices clipped from newspapers, correspondence, deeds, receipts. Handwritten letters and notes with transcripts are included. Manuscripts of John Lee Green and Anna Gilmore Green Texas Pioneers (1847-1887); Texans John Lee and Anna Gilmore Green Find a life in the Territory of New Mexico (1887-1912); and Frontier Life in Seven Rivers; The Sacramento Mountains, and Capitan, New Mexico As Lived by the Green and Key Families (1887-1919). Two interesting pieces of information located on the tab lab led “Ananias Green Jr 4th son” that show the stark difference of newspaper reporting of accidents and trial by jury are included describing the death of Mrs. Ananias Green (Carrie Cox Green) and the trial by jury a day after the automobile/train accident that occurred in Miami, Arizona (Aug 4, 1926 and Aug 5, 1926. A braid of hair belonging to Anna Gilmore Green cut after her death in 1892 was photographed and then removed from the binder and placed in archival box 2.
