Scope and Contents From the File: On June 24, 1889, Governor L. Bradford Prince, appointed by President Harrison to succeed Governor Edmund G. Ross, in compliance with a proposal by the Legislative Assembly, issued a proclamation for election of delegates to a constitutional convention to be held August 6, 1889. The proposed constitution was defeated.
