Scope and Contents

The New Mexico Territorial Assembly on January 30, 1866 passed an act authorizing Governor Henry Connelly to call a constitutional convention. The convention met April 30 -- May 1, 1866. The original copy of the proceedings of April 30 only is extant. The Executive Record of May 1 contains a printed copy of the proceedings of both days, including the afternoon session of May 1, at which time a quorum was not present and the convention adjourned sine die. Records in this series consist of the Spanish and English copies of the journal for April 30, and a Spanish copy of the proposed constitution.
