Scope and Content
From the Collection:
This Collection consists of drawings, paintings and notes of Theron M. Trombeau; curricula of Sleepy Burro School of Art; instructional materials; bulletins; newsletters; and correspondence pertaining to the school activities. It also contains training exercises of Trombeau during his enrollment at Famous Artists School (Section II, infra.), and critiques of his artwork in response to the assignments given to him at that school.

This series is arranged into two subseries: Part A contains articles on Sleepy Burro School of Art; autobiographical notes and essays; and material relating to the organization, development, and establishment and history of Sleepy Burro School of Art.
Part B contains material, which relates to Theron M. Trombeau's lessons at Famous Artist School, Inc. [FAS] operated out of Westport, Connecticut. Founders of FAS included Normal Rockwell, with Stevan Dohanos, Doug Kingman and others. The school was the prototype for Trombeau's school in La Luz, New Mexico. The material includes related correspondence and critiques of his work on his study assignments. It also contains original artwork of Trombeau in Oversized Box Number 5; famous artists magazines; and Trombeau's sketch books.
