George Boyce Jr. Papers, 1961-2008
File — Box: 1, Folder: 1
Scope and Content
From the Collection:
The George A. Boyce Papers consist of photocopies of correspondence, notes, and a manuscript related to his Dr. George A. Boyce and his involvement in the founding of IAIA. The material was provided by George A. Boyce Jr. as recognition of his father’s deep involvement in the founding of the school, and to correct published misinformation. Of particular note is chapter VI of an unknown publication by BIA administrator and educator Hildegard Thompson, which includes an unpublished article by Boyce titled "Early Days at the Institute of American Indian Arts".
This material, as mentioned previous, was donated in an attempt to properly credit the donor's father, Dr. George A. Boyce. These papers help to clarify the gestation of the Institute as seen by Boyce and Thompson.
The collection consists of only one folder, containing two pieces of recent correspondence, one page of notes from Boyce's wife, and 48pp of a typed manuscript by Hildegard Thompson from 1976.
