"Race Against Time to Preserve Invaluable Photo Collection." Antiques and the Arts Weekly, March 1, 1985. Article describes the invaluable collection of Juley photo archives at the Smithsonian. Photo: "Three Riders" by ELB (Article notes that this painting was cut in half and presumed lost. However, when the Juley photograph ran in Smithsonian Magazine, the woman on the left was identified and that section was found to belong to one of her sons) .

"Taos Ten Found Beauty, Refuge in Southwest Mountain Colony," The Chieftain, Pueblo, CO, July 7, 1985. In celebration of its 13th anniversary, the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center will feature "The Taos Ten and Their Contemporaries" a collection of 50 paintings by 19 artists from the Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe.

No title, New York Times, July 11, 1985. Article discusses the controversy surrounding thirteen of the best works from the Steinway and Sons collection of approximately 100 paintings commissioned by the piano makers. CBS, who owns Steinway (now up for sale) is holding onto the 13 paintings, including one by ELB. Employees feel the collection is part of the Steinway tradition and should be passed on to the next owner.

"High School Art Collection Draws Offer From Museum," Albuquerque Journal, December 10, 1985. The Albuquerque Museum trustees express interest in obtaining 30 works of art housed at the Albuquerque High School, including paintings by ELB, Berninghaus, Sharp and Phillips.

"Seven Paintings Missing from Schools," Taos News, October 9, 1986. ELB painting "Brooklyn Heights" is declared missing and presumed lost from the Taos municipal school's collection. Estimated value of "Brooklyn Heights" is $35,000. According to Sherry Brown. Four of the missing seven works were donated to the schools by HGB.

"New Koshare Gallery Displays Rare Taos Society Works," Pueblo Chieftain, Pueblo, CO, December 9, 1987. Koshare Museum, La Junta, CO opens new gallery to exhibit the Burshears Collection including works by artists of the Taos Society. ELB paintings mentioned: "The Plasterers" originally purchased for $150 at the La Fonda Hotel on Taos Plaza where it was displayed.

The Alcove Show at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art exhibits black and white images from various New Mexico artists including ELB. "Blumenschein emerges as the most highly trained and perhaps the most gifted." Editorial piece claiming that luck, perpetuation of the "broken wheel" story to mythical proportions and calculated marketing techniques by the Taos Society of Artists have led to Taos' art colony reputation.
