-April 12, 1949, from Albuquerque, to HGB, n.p. Lecture to HGB based on Wolfe's critic. MOMA bought ELB piece.

-April 24, 1949, from Albuquerque, to HGB, n.p. Still fuming from Wolfe's critic "Never exhibit one of my paintings unless it will be as good as my best and compete well with others paintings in the show. To compare unfavorably with others is damaging to the reputation I have."

-December 7, 1949, from Albuquerque, to HGB, Taos. Critical letter to HGB: "You are not living a life that will fulfill your promise as an artist" Attacks her character.
