Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument (N.M.)

Abstract As one of the leading historians of New Mexico and the Spanish Southwest, John L. Kessell conducted extensive research in these areas. This collection includes photocopies of some of the primary source materials he used for his scholarship, as well as notes, correspondence, manuscripts, and other research materials.

Scope and Content Collection consists of a broad range of materials relating to the activities of the Museum of New Mexico in the 20th century with the bulk of the material being from the latter half. Included are plans, reports, finances, projects and correspondence involving the Museum of New Mexico, the School of American Research, National Park Service, and other state and national organizations. Scope and Content These are five presidential proclamations establishing national monuments for El Morro National Monument, Gran Quivira National Monument, Chaco Canyon National Monument, Bandelier National Monument, and Capulin Mountain National Monument. The proclamations were executed by Theodore Roosevelt, William H. Taft, and Woodrow Wilson.
