This collection contains song recordings, interviews and photos that Alan Paine Radebaugh collected from four New Mexico country western singers and musicians: Joseph Looney, Robert Carley, Ned Holloway and Sidney Fleming. In addition, there are performances by other early, leading country singers from New Mexico, Texas, California, Kansas and other parts of the country. Some of them were recorded at fiddle contests.

This broad collection contains traditional Southwestern Native American and Hispanic folk music, and popular music, dances, poetry readings and interviews collected in the 1970s and 1980s. Also included are Spanish medieval music, a Belen Los Pastores presentation, Matachines music from Tortugas, a Corrales history pageant, Anglo American country western songs and fiddle tunes, Laotian songs from Albuquerque, and a lecture by John Donald Robb.

This collection consists primarily of recordings of traditional Hispanic folk music performed by musicians in Santa Fe, Chama, Tierra Amarilla, and Bernal, New Mexico. Included are a few ragtime, country, Mexican tunes, and other favorites.

The collection contains country western songs from Portales and music from a Spanish Catholic mass and fiesta in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
