Association for Preservation of the Old Lamy House Collection

Scope and Content The Association's papers consist of the records of Santa Fe preservationists who unsuccessfully attempted in 1948-49 to save the so-called "Lamy House" and the "Old Santa Fe Trading Post" on Cathedral Place from destruction by the A.T. & S.F. Railroad for expansion of their La Fonda Hotel.

Edward McLean Collection,

Scope and Content Collection consists of Edward McLean's handbound books, his estate papers, materials about him, a catalogue of books bound by him and of his rare book collection. Included are pamphlets and articles about churches, missions, St. Francis Cathedral, and architecture in New Mexico. There is also a 15th century Italian vellum illustrated manuscript.

Fray Angelico Chavez History Library and Palace of the Governors Photo Archives Building Plans

Scope and Content Collection contains blueprints and blueline prints of 120 Washington Ave., Santa Fe, N.M. from 1963-1995. During this time the building first housed the Santa Fe Public Library and then subsequently the Fray Angélico Chávez History Library and Palace of the Governors Photo Archives.

Fray Angelico Chavez History Library Renovation

Scope and Content The collection contains administrative documents concerning the renovation project including correspondence with the architect, construction contractor and New Mexico state agencies. Some correspondence is from individuals, families and institutions that bought tiles in honor of New Mexicans to raise money for the renovation of the library. Dr. Tom Chavez oversaw the renovation project that cost 3 million dollars. The grand opening was on November 9, 1996.

Historic Design Review Board Records,

Historic New Mexico Structures Drawings,

Mission at Old Acoma Foundation records,

New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Collection,

Scope and Content These records were originally deposited by the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department from safety deposit boxes of New Mexico banks.

Significant items in these collections are deeds, powers of attorney, and court records that reveal the activities of land speculators in assembling enormous tracts in the post-Civil War years.

Palace of the Governors Excavation Reports,

Scope and Content Collection consists of reports detailing the excavation of the Palace of the Governors and several rooms in the Palace. Included with the 1979 report are 76 black and white photographs taken during the excavation.

Perry E. Borchers Photogrammetry Plans

Scope and Content Collection contains photogrammetric plans of towns, pueblos, archaeological sites, and buildings in New Mexico and Arizona. Collection also contains photogrammetric plans of buildings in Vermont, Illinois, Ohio, and New York; and Sweden and Greece.

Photogrammetry is the practice of determining the geometric properties of objects from photographic images. Photogrammetry is used by archaeologists to quickly produce plans of large or complex sites.

Plans of New Mexico Dams and Hospitals,

Scope and Content Collection consists of engineering drawings related to flood control and power dams in New Mexico. The following dams could be identified: El Vado dam, Chifflo dam, Ladron dam, Jaroso dam, Chamita dam, Jemez Creek dam. Also included are a number of unidentified construction drawings for what appears to be a military hospital. Several drawings have a written note "extra copy for S. Hess." Material is located with the map collection.
